You just need to use your mind and that's it. Some people are not using their brains, they are not thinking, they just go with the flow and run the auto pilot mode of themselves. That's why their brains were so rusty, that's why they just accept what was given to them.
Use your brain. Read some books, count some numbers, analyze what someone is saying. Think, solve some problems, you need to make your brain running or else it will go against you. Oil it like an engine, let the brain cells flow and work.
Because if you will not build an active mind then you will have a negative life. You will always be in a state of worry, you will become a hot headed person.
EXERCISE. Exercise is the best medication, if you can make yourself sweat everyday then you will have an active mind, your mind will operate smoothly. You will feel good about yourself, you will feel that your mind is breathing. You will have more oxygen supply in your brain. Exercise is only hard in the beginning but once you get use to it... everything will become easier. You will even look for it everyday.
Avoid activities that will make your brain rusty such as watching a lot of movies and playing a lot of video games, those activities are fun but it will not make your mind think so avoid all of it. You can do it but not too much because your brain will never run. It will make your mental game weak.
Learn to mediate, meditate for at least 5 minutes a day. This will make your brain refreshed. Just close your eyes and breathe, never try to complicate it. Just do the basics. The goal here is not to totally get rid of all the negative thoughts but to just feel a little bit better and build a habit if resting your mind whenever it is stressed.
Build a very positive mindset. Always think that everything is going to be alright, think that just doing something will produce something. Never worry about what is not happening, just focus on the moment and use your brain to think about positive solutions. Direct your thoughts to positivity and never entertain thoughts that will not make you strong. Welcome thoughts that will make you happier and your belief stronger.
Pursue a goal, make your mind think, use it to give you a better life. If you need to read something, read it, if you need to learn something... learn it. Never deprive your mind of the information that you needed to become successful. Make your mind like a sponge, it absorbs everything that needed to be absorbed.
Solve a crossword puzzle, download an app that develops your math skills. Train your mind to be a fast thinker, never let it become slow. Be aware if you can't remember things and do something to make your mind sharp again. Read books, read a lot of articles, plant it with useful information that you can use in the future.
