In life you should always be in control, you should not let someone or something own you or else you will have a miserable and uncontrolled life. You should be the one who is owning, don't let anything own you because that will create tension. You will get sick and tired of your life, you will lose your grip and you will become something else that you don't like.
For example a tv show, even if you don't really like it... you still watch it because you feel lazy. Then it becomes a habit, you keep on watching shows that you don't like because you think you're tired even if you're not tired. You think you need to relax. That television owns you and you don't know it. It makes your life miserable, it makes you lazy and unproductive. You must destroy that habit or television if you want to bring your life back.
If you have a relationship that is not healthy, let's say your boss is abusing you. He always force you to work for extra hours without pay. And because you're afraid to get fired... you always follow him even if that is not making your life better, even if it is causing you a lot of stress, you still follow him because you are afraid that tomorrow you don't have a job anymore. That situation owns you, you don't have power, all you do is take commands and move despite of not wanting to do it. You must destroy that relationship or that pattern. It is either you resign or tell your boss that you don't like working without getting paid. The call is always yours, if you will not destroy what owns you... you will become a slave forever.
You think drinking alcohol too much is making your forget your problems? let me remind you again, if you are dependent from something then it means it owned you already. It means you cannot live without it but it can live without you, that is the ugly truth.
Reclaim your life and destroy what owns you, destroy what controls you. It is your life, you must do everything you want with it. Don't let anything play with it, you must be the one who will play with it because it is yours and you're the player.
